In Afrikaans we call it ''tandmuis''.
We recently had a mouse problem in our home. Sneaky little bugger. You can easily miss that it is there, but painfully aware of its poop EVERYWHERE! One morning I heard a scratching noise while sleeping and knew it nested somewhere in our room. I woke my husband. Thinking he did not hear me, because he's not responding, he suddenly got up. In his silence, he was busy strategically planning what action to take. We called the kids and everyone had a job. Hubby instructed all exits to be closed off with pillows and someone standing guard with a weapon of some sorts. Ready to take it on, we chased it out of its nest - (my jersey cupboard!) When it attemted my exit a second time, I was ready with a shoe, screaming as I hit it!
Apparently a house futher up the street doesn't care much for gardening and the overgrow was a perfect breeding place. Soon the infestation started to harass all nearby neighbours. Despite our lion and bear outside, that caught a few, this 1 mouse manage to sneak past into our home.
Then God spoke stearnly to me. How is it that My children won't tolerate a mouse in their homes, but allow spiritual critters to run rampage in their homes??
I saw a vision of people watching a scary movie on television. As they watched, I saw black creatures climbing out of the screen and started making havoc in homes. Latching on the weakest - usually the kids. And they wonder why their kids have night terrors and anxiety!
God says that His people are blinded, asleep and naive. When we are not seeking Him and striving to live a pure and holy life as set apart, the door is wide open for the enemy. How can we claim to be protected if we are not under His wing? We choose the flesh above God!!!!
For those that do seek a holy life, you never know when critters in the neighbourhood sneak in. He has given us His son, who shed his blood so that we can overcome the ''spiritual mice" in our lives, yet many are ignorant on how to use this tools given to us. Thinking we overcome by osmosis. No! Take up your cross means to war. Ephesians 6:12 says: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
The Bible states it clearly that it is a spiritual war, but we deny its existence. It is like saying, I don't see the mouse in my house, therefore it is not there, but I will just keep on cleaning the poop and wonder why I have to deal with so much poop in my life... Or God will supernaturally protect me from from this "mouse"...
* The truth is that the enemy is like a roaring lion - if there is but a small opening, he can find a way in to devour you (1 Peter 5:8) Therefore be vigilant, sober minded and cautious at all times.
James 4:8 Come close to God and He will come close to you. Recognise that you are sinners, get your soiled hands clean. Realize that you have been disloyal, wavering indivituals with divided interests and purify your hearts.
Ask Holy Spirit, our teacher, to show you what you are wrestling and how to war against it. Know and get into the Word! We are all lacking and learning, so lets encourage each other, lets praise Him in truth and spirit.
1 John 3:3 All who have hope in Him, purify themselves, just as He is pure.
