The voice of women

Writer's picture: The 6 Bear JourneyThe 6 Bear Journey

Most heard this message about women not having to go up the mountain because of kids and chores and that God meets you where you at. Then I had a shattering moment watching Christian speaker- Rachel Jankovic saying we shouldn't use it as an excuse to become lukewarm or not seek intimacy with God. It dawned on me that we take others' words to heart without asking God's opinion or what is His will for us. We had to do some steep gravel road climbs and passes with our home. The journey was nail-biting and breath-holding scary! I believe God pushed us up, and other times He provided someone to pull us out. He never promised that the road would be easy, but He is with us. Ladies, we can go up the mountain in spirit too! The climb might be a bit heavier with our kids! Then there are times when life happens: Babies are needy, wheels falling off in all directions, pouring rain, and howling winds. There is no closet time and that is when I need God to meet me supernaturally where I'm at. Sitting on a chair comforting a sobbing toddler, crying for reasons beyond my understanding. Trying to get the washing up before another rainstorm with a baby wrapped around my leg, nagging non-stop. Grace, at the foot of the mountain, is grace time! Then there is a season one should start climbing again...

I also read that the women went to draw water from the well daily. Why do you think it was the women's job description? Plus, they would gather and go together. Why? I can imagine because God knew the importance of fellowship - not gossip - but fellowship like He intended for women! Godly encouragement, mentorship, and being a sweet aroma as they draw water from the Living well!

The scene in The Chosen of the Samaritan woman at the well made it come alive to me. I was that broken woman at the well, and if Jesus did not find me, there is no telling where I would've found myself. Accepting Jesus was like finding a treasure! It fills you with unspeakable joy; You can't help but testify to others so that they might discover that true treasure too.

Then I see the life of Lydia in the Bible. Paul went out the city gate on a Sabbath day to the river. He found women gathered there and spoke to them. The Word says that she was already a worshiper of God, but God opened her heart to respond to the message (Acts 16). I understand that day she started walking in God's calling for her life. She opened her home to the disciples. An activated tool on fire for God's Kingdom! What is God stirring in your heart?

One of the most beautiful scriptures is in Luke 2:19 "But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart." Too often, I spoke out without pondering and purifying my words with the blood of Christ, and it left a stench. And so I came to the end of myself. I am not as sanctified as I thought. It is painful looking in the mirror and discovering that I don't look like Jesus in certain areas. The thing that was standing between me and the mirror was none other than pride!

Being squeezed, I could only see the gunk pouring out. Behind the curtains, God was pressing new wine and uprooting the enemy's seed in my life. I'm learning to rejoice in the valley because I know new fruit will burst forth. Here is where God leads me into true womanhood, the beauty of feminity He created us for!
