Stargazing

Writer's picture: The 6 Bear JourneyThe 6 Bear Journey

I don't know whether many people know this, but apparently, there is a meteor shower every year over December called the Geminids. We woke up at 2 AM for Nanke's birthday to witness this annual phenomenon. Nowhere better than Sutherland, where the stars are indeed more magnificent. So often, God uses nature to talk to us. As we sat there, in the nippy morning breeze, excited over every "shooting star" we witnessed, God started speaking:

Firstly, many will miss Me and never experience my beauty like these flying meteors because no one told them. They've never heard of I AM. Secondly, some heard but didn't want to make an effort to climb out of their comfort sleepiness to come to see my glamour. Thirdly, many will come to taste my goodness but get discouraged when it doesn't meet their expectations and retreat back into slumbering. A fourth group will get swept away in the excitement and feel-good moment, but then get bored with a seen one, seen them all attitude! Others get uncomfortable in the cold or the discomfort of the neck. Some do endure it, but moaning, groaning, missing the spectacular ones - the deeper things of God. Then a small group comes to adore the Creator of such great vastness, with joy and singing, expecting to see more and prepared to be blown away. And even fewer will return for more.

Under this beautiful, magnificent sky, God awakened my spirit. Deep cries out to deep. I started wondering, the enemy being a counterfeit, what is God's truth about the stars?

By reference, I came across this book and started reading about stars actually telling the story of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Example: Virgo signifies the virgin birth to a son with the seed of God. The scales: wages of sin and the price of redemption. Scorpio brought the war between Christ and satan with its deadly sting, but Christ came out victorious etc. (Summery my own, Seiss, J.A: The Gospel in the stars). The scriptures quoted make you think and look through different glasses. A book I'd recommend, but not without praying about it first.
