My kids love riding their schooters. It is great fun, but the problem is that our pavement is very uneven. Every now and then there are bound to be tears and blood involved.
This week my daughter had a great, big fall and injured her knee and hand. Tears of pain and feeling sorry for herself poured on the floor as mommy cleaned and patched her up physically and emotionally. The next day she was at it again; low and behold, she fell again and injured the same knee and hand. Her dad then lovingly suggested that she wear gloves when riding her schooter. The next moment, there my daughter appears, all geared up and armoured, prepared for the uneven road :-)
Does Our Heavenly Father not do the same for us? Life doesn't always have easy, smooth roads. If He would give us the gloves before the fall, we would rebel and annoyingly ask whyyyyyyy? You are spoiling my ride, it is uncomfortable! But if we first fall, we then understand why we need gloves in the first place and we will joyfully put it on, because we know the bleeding is more painful than uncomfortable gloves. Some of us will learn after the first fall, others may have to fall a few times before accepting wisdom. Others choose to stay foolish and rather bleed than be uncomfortable.
Ephesians 6:11 ''Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."
Romans 13:12 "Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light."
